Opera lovers are in for a treat this summer as George Frideric Handel’s Orlando comes to the stage at Longborough Festival Opera. Opening on 30th May 2026 and running until 7th June 2026, the production is set to be one of the highlights of the early summer cultural calendar in the Cotswolds.
Orlando is one of Handel’s most imaginative operas, blending romance, magic and psychological drama. First performed in 1733, the opera tells the story of the heroic knight Orlando, whose love for the princess Angelica leads him into jealousy, heartbreak and eventual madness. With its expressive arias, dramatic intensity and moments of striking beauty, the work remains a favourite among Baroque opera enthusiasts.
Set against the beautiful countryside surroundings of Longborough Festival Opera, the production promises a memorable experience for audiences.
